Work Injury Benefits (WIBA)

WIBA covers employees for injuries sustained while at work. Compensation follows a defined scale of benefits depending on the injury.

Every employer is required by the Act to maintain an approved insurance policy for liability to employees — including domestic workers such as housekeepers, guards, and drivers.

Cover can include medical care, rehabilitation, lost wages, and death benefits, with benefits of up to 8 years’ salary for permanent disability, 1 year’s salary for temporary disability, and medical expenses up to KSh 100,000.
